Resources and Checklists
Short, printable checklists for everyday multimedia project work.
Audio export checklist
Work through this list before you render or export an audio project.
Before exporting
- Listen to the full mix from start to finish at a comfortable volume.
- Check the loudest section for clipping or distortion.
- Confirm the sample rate and channel layout you intend to export.
- Mute or remove any temporary reference tracks.
During and after export
- Export to a lossless format first, such as WAV, and keep that as your master.
- Name the file with project, version, and date.
- Open the exported file and listen again, including the first and last seconds.
- Make delivery copies from the master, never from an already-compressed copy.
Project kickoff checklist
Answer these before you start creating assets for a new multimedia project.
Define the output
- What is the final format and where will it be watched or heard?
- What resolution, frame rate, or sample rate does the target require?
- Who needs to approve the work, and when?
Set up the workspace
- Create a project folder with separate areas for sources, edits, and exports.
- Write a short readme describing the project and its conventions.
- Copy source media in; never edit the only copy of anything.
Before the first export
- Run one small test export early and check it on the target device.
- Record the settings that worked in the readme.
